This collection documents the the expirences of black people in Maine. The documents ways the community interacted with the state goverment. The documents come from different state departments and fuctions and time periods. To tell parts of the story of the black expirence in Maine.
Maine's black population starts with some of the earlest european settlement. Though small in number the communites in Maine have been active a vibrebt through out the states history.
