Legislative Journals
- The Legislative Collection contains the Senate Legislative Record and the House Journal and House Legislative Record – all of which document the proceedings and debates of the respective houses of the Maine State Legislature. It has been published since 1897 by the Clerk of the House and the Secretary of the Senate, who are constitutionally obligated to publish the proceedings (see Maine Constitution Art. IV, Part 3rd, Sec. 5.The Senate’s records run continuously since 1820; the House’s records were published separately from 1820-2016 and were combined into one volume in the 128th Legislature.
House Daily Session Cassette Tapes
- This contains an incomplete collection of audio recordings from the daily sessions of the Maine House of Representatives, covering the years 1967 to 1991, as well as a more complete collection from 1991 to 2012.

Acts, Laws, and Resolves
- Original bills with sponsors' signatures and House and Senate stampings and any accompanying amendments. This is the original paperwork that leads up to the signed bills. (Note: These are not the printed legislative documents.)
Legislative Graveyard: Files Created During Legislative Sessions
- These files are created by the Maine Legislature while in session. Materials include dead bills, administrative communications, chamber and Governors' messages and addresses, reports made to the legislature, appointments and election returns, orders and resolves, and petitions.
