Proclamations
- Proclamations are issued by the Governor to recognize and celebrate extraordinary achievements, honor occasions of importance and significance, and to increase public awareness of issues for the well-being of Maine citizens. Requests are reviewed and issued at the Governor's discretion. These documents are strictly ceremonial, not legally binding, and should not be interpreted as a political or policy endorsement of any kind.
Executive Council
- The collection includes the papers of the Executive Council, a constitutionally established body that served solely to advise the Governor from 1820 until 1976. All matters related to state government were submitted to the Council until its abolition. The records consist of reports, pardons, and orders.
Comprehensive Rivers Management Plan
- Comprehensive river resource management plans for each watershed with a hydropower project licensed under the Federal Power Act. These plans include state agency comments, recommendations and permitting decisions, as well as information about minimum flows, impoundment levels, upstream and downstream fish passage, maintenance of aquatic habitat and habitat productivity, public access, and recreational opportunities.
Governor's Collections
- MSA holds records from 14 of Maine's 74 governors, most of which have not yet been processed or digitized. In 2019, Governor LePage's office was the first governor to provide the Archives with a copy of already digitized records.
