Legislature
The organization of the Maine Legislature is established by the Constitution of Maine, Maine Statutes, and legislative rules. The Senate is made up of 35 members, while the House of Representatives comprises 151 members. All members of both chambers are elected from single-member districts. Additionally, the House includes three non-voting members who are elected by the Penobscot Indian Nation, the Passamaquoddy Tribe, and the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, respectively, to represent their tribes in the Legislature.
