Attorney General Josiah Hayden Drummond to Governor Washburn, speaking against Captain Lorenzo Mumfort and Lieutenant Ebenezer L. Huston of Company B in Falmouth, stating he believes them to be secret secessionists and draft resisters. Drummond also declares Joshua L. Chamberlain an unsuitable candidate for commission.
